SHELLFISH BULLETIN NO. 9

Based on the results of Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB) or red tide monitoring activities of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) and the Local Government Unit (LGU), shellfish samples collected from coastal waters of Milagros in Masbate are now NEGATIVE for Paralytic Shellfish Poison (PSP) or red tide toxin.
Hence, all red tide monitoring areas in Bikol are now NEGATIVE from red tide toxin:
1. Coastal waters of Milagros, Masbate
2. Sorsogon Bay;
3. Juag Lagoon in Matnog, Sorsogon; and
4. Coastal waters of Mandaon, Masbate.
Therefore, the public is hereby informed that shellfish harvested from these areas are safe for human consumption. Likewise, gathering and/or harvesting and marketing of shellfishes are now permitted.
