The Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) has awarded a check worth P55,000 to the family of the late Jose Yaneza, a Bantay Dagat/Ilog volunteer and former Municipal Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council (MFARMC) Chairperson on August 7, 2024 at the LGU Labo, Camarines Norte.

 

Arlan Herico Laguador, Provincial PCIC Focal Person, together with Leilani A. Delfin, Provincial Fishery Officer of Camarines Norte and the LGU AT for Fisheries, presented the check to Yaneza’s family as an insurance claim following his death in May 2024.

 

This undertaking is part of the Bantay Dagat death benefit program where deputized Bantay Dagat volunteers who provide support in fishery law enforcement in their respective localities were enrolled for a one-year insurance coverage from November 6, 2023 to November 6, 2024.

 

The PCIC’s Agricultural Producers Protection Plan insures farmers, fisherfolk and allied workers in agriculture and fisheries and covers death due to accidents, natural causes and murder or assault.
