The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Bicol joined the nationwide celebration of BFARโs 79th anniversary, commemorating the agencyโs nearly eight decades of public service while recognizing the dedication and achievements of its employees in advancing the fisheries sector and serving fisherfolk communities across the Bicol Region.
The celebration opened with a parade led by BFAR 5 officials and employees. A highlight of the program was the conferment of Service Loyalty Awards to both permanent and Contract of Service (COS) employees in recognition of their years of dedicated service. The agency also honored personnel who successfully completed their postgraduate studies, acknowledging their pursuit of academic excellence, continuous learning, and professional growth in public service.
In his message, BFAR Bicol Regional Director Ariel Pioquinto emphasized the agencyโs unwavering commitment to protecting aquatic resources, strengthening the fisheries sector, and ensuring that the benefits of the countryโs waters reach the communities who depend on them. โFor 79 years, BFAR 5 has remained steadfast in its mandate to protect and conserve our aquatic resources. Through the years, we have faced challenges brought about by climate change, resource limitations, and the evolving needs of the fisheries sector. Yet, with unity, innovation, and public service, we continue to rise above these challenges,โ RD Pioquinto said.
โAs we look back on our accomplishments, let us recognize that these achievements are the result of collective efforts. Every program implemented, every fisherfolk assisted, every resource protected, and every partnership strengthened reflects the dedication of the BFAR Bicol family,โ he added.
RD Pioquinto further called on employees to continue upholding integrity, compassion, and excellence as the agency moves forward in advancing sustainable fisheries, empowering fishing communities, safeguarding aquatic resources, and delivering responsive programs and services across the region.
