The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region 5 spearheaded the launching of the lambaklad project in Brgy. Malobago, Manito, Albay Tuesday, May 17, 2022.
The BFAR Bikol started to distribute fuel discount cards initially to 23 fisherfolk from LGU Sagnay during the ceremonial launching of the Fuel Discount Program, Saturday, May 7,2022 at the DA Regional Office, Pili, Camarines Sur.
For the first time in 17 years, a woman FARMC-fisherfolk leader is installed as Mangingisdang Direktor. Imelda R. Belda, CFARMC Chair of Tabaco City/Provincial Fisherfolk Representative of Albay, was officially sworn-in as the 17th Mangingisdang Direktor earlier today, Monday, May 2, 2022 at the BFAR Regional Office, Bula, Camarines Sur.
BFAR Bikol through its Masbate PFO joined the Convergence Day of Integrated Sustainable Assistance Recovery and Advancement Program(ISARAP) at  Barangay Armenia, Uson in Masbate. ISARAP is a program for informing the public about the government programs polices, accomplishment and implementation of the projects and programs.
Dr. Maria Theresa M. Mutia, Chief of the NFRDI-Freshwater Fisheries Research Development Center presented the project overview. Meanwhile, Ms. Nonie Enolva of BFAR 5 presented Introduction to Lake Buhi while Allan Gilles Jr. of NFRDI introduced the AS-ISK toolkit to the participants. In attendance were partners from the academe, DENR-PAMB, BFAR, LGUs and fisherfolk.
As part of the festivity, the local government organized Fisherfolk Day on April 22. In support to the event, the DA-BFAR through Mr. Nazario Briguera, Chief Information Officer heading the Bureau's Information and Fisherfolk Coordination Unit, met with the local fisherfolk to promote and discuss the Malinis at Masaganang Karagatan or MMK Program, the search for the country's outstanding coastal community.
The BFAR 5-Fisheries Production and Support Services Division (FPSSD) headed by Nilo B. Consuelo, spearheaded the launching activity on April 26, 2022. The techno-demo project is under the Aquaculture Livelihood Program that aims to support the production of the top five major commodities (tilapia, bangus, shellfish, seaweeds and crabs/shrimp).
Seaweed Farmers from barangays  Caloco, San Antonio and Maslog in Tinambac Camarines Sur were trained on Climate Resilient Seaweed Technology on April 20-21, 2022.
BFAR Bikol along with other government agencies participated in the MOA Signing and Launching of "SERTIFIKADONG MEKANIKO SA LAMBANG PARAOMA ASIN PARASIRANG ORGANISADO" at the TESDA RTC V in Pili, Cam Sur.
In line with the nationwide celebration of the Women's Month and as the agency's culminating activity, the BFAR 5 GAD Focal Point System awards its women Division Chiefs, Sections and Unit Heads in recognition of their leadership and dedication in the implementation of the agency's programs, projects and activities on March 28, 2022 at the Regional Office, Fabrica, Bula, Camarines Sur. More than 50% of BFAR Bikol's management/middle managers are women.
