In a ceremonial awarding, BFAR Bikol has officially turned over a 16-footer Patrol Boat to the Local Government Unit of Nabua, Camarines Sur on April 22, 2024, at the BFAR Regional Office in Fabrica, Bula, Camarines Sur. Regional Director Ariel U. Pioquinto led the awarding to the LGU through Atty. Fernando Simbulan, Municipal Mayor.
 
A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was inked between the BFAR 5 and LGU Nabua. During the MOA signing, RD Pioquinto underscored the significance of the patrol boat in monitoring and safeguarding the municipal waters within LGU Nabua’s jurisdiction. He also discussed its role in supporting various BFAR initiatives, notably the implementation of the Balik Sigla sa Ilog at Lawa (BASIL) Program. This program is designed to revitalize fisheries production in lakes, rivers, and reservoirs, thereby enhancing the sustainability of aquatic resources.
 
Mayor Simbulan conveyed his gratitude to BFAR for the provision of the patrol boat, recognizing its dual purpose in supporting BFAR projects and serving as a crucial asset during calamities.
 
BFAR 5 Chief of the Fisheries Management Regulatory and Enforcement Division (FMRED), Junalin Barcellano, Noel Umbao, OIC-Fisheries Resource Management Section (FRMS) and Julieta Garbiles Deris, LGU Nabua Municipal Agriculturist served as witnesses during the event.
